What colors look good on a black horse?

I do hunter-jumper shows on my black thoroughbred, and was wondering what colors of tack/clothing you guys think look good on black horses. Details…be specific!!!

in hunteres there are specific rules to what colors you and you horse can wear.
basically a white saddle pad, white or pale show shirt.
black or navy brown or other conserivitive blazer
black boots tan britches all brown leather tack
thats really all your allowed, and keep all bit, martingales, attachments whatever in the guidelines. also no boots allowed in hunters.

jumpers the same but wierd tack allowed, sometiems you dont need tall boots or coats, boots allowed but everything else the same

  1. Black horses go with anything. I dress my horse in flashy neon colours for barrel racing. You could go with any colour if you wanted to. I’d say any neon colours really, it’s your call.

  3. almost every color, but i specifically like yellow, teal/turqouise, or a bright tomato red, and orange. they look beautiful.

    havana is the color thats generally standard for hunters. black tack is ok at local shows but breed and higher level shows will frown on anything that’s not a shade of dark brown. i like navy blue hunt coats on black horses with khaki pants. a traditional black coat will also work nicely. if you plan on doing rated shows stick to basics and tradition. loud colors and new fashions won’t win over any judges! hunters are very traditional and value moderation

  6. I had a black quarter horse for a while and i really loved purple on him (i know it tends to be a girlie color but it looked great!). A wine colored red was nice too. I know people are saying neon but i actually find that they don’t look as great–and certainly not very classy where i always think of black horses as rather regal haha but maybe that’s just me.

    sorry if i misunderstood i just thought you meant for saddlepads, blankets, halters, boots etc. for around the barn. If you mean for showing everyone above is right–but i assume you would already know that if you show.

  7. Obviously white for the shows.

    For fun? Pretty much anything other than navy blue or black lol. I would use lilac, red, or pink on a black horse ^^ Oh, and as for your clothing were what you would wear on any horse. A black/navy show jacket, boots, breeches (tan or beige), and a helmet.

  8. i think for a black horse any other solid color or simple pattern will do. depending on how much black the horse has.usually black horses are dressed in a bright color or a simple print.

  10. i would say bright colors. bright and neon colors. But really black goes with anything. I have a jumping black Arabian stallion and i usually use a light blue saddle pad underneath a brown saddle. It looks really nice on him. (:

  14. black horses suit most colours. theres a black horse at my yard who looks great in pink. but i think blue looks lush on black horses. like a blue browband and boots.
