What does a dead bird tied with black horse hair by the throat and suspended at door entrance mean?
This little bird was almost nothing but bones. 20 or so long strands of black horse hair were tied in a knot around its neck and then tied to an old light fixture hanging from the ceiling of the back entrance to this old farm house. This property is in my husbands family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, it appears that somebody does not like your husband’s family very much. Birds in general are often symbols for bad luck (Which is why one avoids giving presents with birds on them to newlyweds).
It means some very strange persons lived in that house.

remove the bird and go about your business. As long as you don’t believe in something, it can’t hurt you. But the more you pry for answers, the closer you become to things you need to be far away from. Don’t pursue the answer, and put the incident out of your mind.

Means some deranged person who believed in black magic lived there. I say "deranged" because these people are as mentally unstable as fanatics of religions are and use weird methods to convience themselves by deluding themselves to believe the "Gods" give them "powers." The only ones who fall for this crap are those to weak minded, delusional and LET superstitions and fears control their lives. Those who practice these weird acts KNOW that FEAR is their greatest ASSET and use it as a means of PROFIT.
