WHAT IS THE PHENOTYPE AND GENOTYPE OF A RED AND A BLACK HORSE?
I need to know the phenotype and genotype of a red and black horse.

thanks!
I think its
RED:
Phenotype: Red Colour
Genotype: ee
BLACK:
Phenotype: Black Colour
Genotype: EE or Ee
Black colouring is dominant of Chestnut.
I think its

BLACK:

I havn’t done this in a year.
All I remember is that phenotype is what it looks like, and genotype is its gene makeup.
so im guessing the phenotype of the red horse is red.
and the phenotype of the black horse is black.
Lets say it EE is black, and ee is red.
Ee will still be black because the capital letter represents a dominant trait and the smaller case e is the resesive trait. If there is a dominant trait in the gene makeup, then it IS that colour.
See a biology teacher because I’m obviously not one.

RED:
Phenotype: Chestnut
Genotype: Red Factor: ee / Agouti Gene: aa, Aa, or AA
BLACK:
Phenotype: Black
Genotype: Red Factor: EE or Ee / Agouti Gene: aa
Red factor controls whether the horse is chesnut or black. Any uppercase E’s mean the horse carries the black gene. Both EE or ee mean the horse is homozygous for that gene and will always give that gene to their offspring. The agouti gene controls whether a EE or Ee horse is black or bay (any uppercase A’s mean the horse is bay, all lower case mean he’s black). Chestnut horses can carry agouti, but won’t show it. They can only pass it to their offspring. All horses are black or chesnut underneath the color modifying genes they carry.
