Why wouldn’t it?

Most of the cameras we use are either designed or made (sometimes both) in Japan.

Just make sure that the menu is set for English, not Japanese. Ask that the seller does that for you. You will also want a manual in English

There are two options- you could buy a video capture card (which run for as low as around eighty dollars), or if it’s on a computer you could download a program like ScreenFlow.

We think they are abusing him, but need video evidence.

It is illegal.

The camera is not going into "the patient’s room", it’s going into private property owned by the nursing home.

If you suspect elder abuse, you can contact the district attorney’s office, and they will investigate. And you are welcome to move him to a different nursing home.

If you formatted your memory card, that means you erased everything. There is no getting them back unless you saved them somewhere else. My advice would be to start saving your pictures to another hard drive somewhere. Sorry to hear that!!

Connecting with the yellow/red/white cable would mess up the quality. Is there any way to uphold the digital quality like by maybe using this S-cable I see?

it shouldn’t lose too much (it will lose a bit though). make sure your takes are broken up into smaller chunks because sound sync goes out in longer shots.

Most newer cameras come with cables and software for doing this.
If you don’t have these you might contact the manufacturer to see if these accessories are available.

Otherwise, you need a video editing program and the correct input adaptor
