Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Chewy Candy Bar

Another great low carb comfort food recipe from Linda’s Low Carb (http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/chewy_pean utbutter_candy.html):
2 TBS butter
1/4 cup natural chunky peanut butter
1/4 cup Splenda
1 cup chocolate whey protein powder
1/4 cup Da Vinci SF Vanilla syrup
1/4 cup Salted nuts (optional)

* Melt the Butter, and mix with Splenda.
* Add the Peanut Butter to the mix until smooth.
* Mix protein powder until crumbly
* Add SF syrup, and the mix should turn glossy and much easier to form into 2 mini loaf pans
* Freeze mixture for 1 hour, and it should be able to be eaten.

Thank you so much!! I really needed this. And it was fantastic! I saw your videos, and started reading the book… I have been on atkins for a month…. Thank you for your videos, they inspired me to start. (I am from Chile)

  3. @lilyflowertulip I …
@lilyflowertulip I am using the Optimum Nutrition “100% WHEY GOLD STANDARD” protein powder. It is sweetened with AceK not sugar like their natural brand. I buy it from either Amazon or Netrition, but I also prefer the Isopure Zero Carb Protein powder.

    HI, would you mind …
HI, would you mind telling which brand of protein powder you use? I went to wal mart and looked, but none of the ones there had fewer than about 3 carbs per scoop. thanks for making your videos. they’re helpful and inspirational!

  5. just another …
just another dipshit buying into the lies of the mainstream. By the way @partyongarth420 I don’t EVER crave anything sweet. Hmmm must be something to this way of eating huh!

  6. My fitday count …
My fitday count says 13.4 total carbs 3.8 fiber for a net of 9.6

    Correction:
    Should be 1/2 cup mushrooms
    4 large eggs

Not sure why the difference between mine and yours.
Do you have any videos on salad ingredients and salad dressings preferably homemade dressings?

  7. According to Fitday …
According to Fitday, you have had around 8.5g total carbs with 2.6g of Fiber — making your carb count for the day 5.9g. You have another 1.5 cups of salad veggies you can eat. Depending on what veggies you select (peppers, leaf lettuce, mushrooms, etc.), your options are pretty open. You have nearly 75% of your carbs left for the day.

You can still have 3-4 oz of cheese, 1-2 oz of Heavy Cream, Lemon Juice. Just listing them, I am thinking alfredo sauce, but the options are pretty open.

  8. Continued……..Is …
Continued……..Is this correct? To stay under 20 grams, I am not sure what I could eat for the rest of the day other than straight meat. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

  9. Thanks for the …
Thanks for the quick reply. One more question. I have been on carb for about 3 weeks now and love it. I am never tired, tons of energyand never really hungry. Lost 16 lbs. so far.
I decided to try the induction phase to maybe boost my metabolism. I made breakfast this morning:
    4 eggs
    1 cup broccoli
    1/2 cut mushrooms
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 Tbs minced garlic
After subtracting the fiber grams I am already at half the days carb count 9.6
    grams

  10. I think Stevia …
I think Stevia would probably work. I haven’t tried it myselfy yet, but if I used a granulated product for this (not if I used one of the liquid Stevia products) I would add a little liquid to the mix as well. I would consider adding a bit of vanilla too. Let me know how it turns out…

    @bowulf
Love your channel. Do you think Stevia would work well with this recipe? Also, where did you get the SF syrup? Thanks, can’t wait to try this tomorrow!

  12. Oops I accidentally …
Oops I accidentally deleted BigWhey’s comment, here it was:
    BigWhey:
“I don’t guess I’ve ever heard you suggest the bars, however, atkins says they are ok for induction. Is this a case of Atkins just trying to make more money off a product?”

So he grudgingly accepted them in the diet, but stated you had to follow the rules of Induction. Remember also that Atkins Nutritional was not necessarily led by the diet center arm.

Atkins always enforced as much unprocessed foods as possible.

  13. He also says:
    ” …

    He also says:
“While any of these foods can make doing Atkins easier, don’t overdo it. Remember, you
must always follow the Rules of Induction.

Here are five common pitfalls to avoid:
    1. During Induction you must not eat any fruit, bread, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter.
    2. Stay away from diet products unless they specifically state “no carbohydrates.” Most such foods are for low-fat diets, not controlled carbohydrate plan”

  14. In the 2002 version …
In the 2002 version of the book, Atkins never suggested bars for Induction. The closest he comes was:
“” Although it is important that you eat primarily unprocessed foods, some controlled carb food products can come in handy when you are unable to find appropriate food, can’t take time for a meal or need a quick snack. As I mentioned earlier, more and more companies are creating healthy food products that can be eaten during the Induction phase of Atkins. “

  15. Remember Induction …
Remember Induction is more than just eating under a specific carb level. It is about eating the right basic foods to the stage for future losses. (Check out my Induction – not simply 20g or less video). The reason is obviously not everything on the ingredients label is on the acceptable foods list, and you are allowed only to eat foods from that list at least for the first 14 days. You can then progress to OWL and the rungs.

As for bars,.when have you heard me suggest them for Induction.

  16. Why wouldn’t a low …
Why wouldn’t a low carb whey powder be allowed during induction? Does it really make your blood sugar spike more than those atkins bars with all the sugar alcohols?
    thanks

Completely understood – I think you’ll like the recipe. It’s really simple.

Where is the chocolate? I didn’t see you add it. Is it in the protein powder? Then, for some reason the video cut off after you say you recommend chunky pb. No finishing directions. Do you bake? Refrigerate? How many servings does this make?
