Ideas – Reception Food for Ranchers at a Bar?
Getting a group together at our local (and only) rural store, bar and Post Office for a celebration. We are going to take food and pay for the beers. This is what I was thinking so you’d know my skill level! I thought 3 dishes – tiny shrimp in cream cheese with cocktail sauce (with crackers) for the Catholics because it’s on a Friday (don’t laugh, they still do that here) pre-made meatballs -1/2 and 1/2 with one half in a sweet grape jelly based sauce (that I will try to make) and 1/2 in a pasta sauce (a jar pasta sauce) and then hot wings chicken wings which I will also try to make. Some kind of bread or rolls and cut up vegie relish tray? Maybe that is too much variety – I need a lot of whatever I have but I’m also easily overwhelmed & not the greatest cook in the west and.these are big eaters – think Bonanza!!

How about chips, hummus and veggies on a platter? You can get a flavored hummus like red pepper or olive.
Red pepper jelly with cream cheese on crackers is really great too. And since you’ll already have some of the ingredients it may make sense to just build off it.
