Do you know whether the Mayflower public house is made from the ships timbers of the Mayflower?

I was told by a tourist guide that it was.

No it’s not. The Mayflower initially sailed from Holland to London and then to America.
It landed at Plymouth on 12/26/1620.
It returned to England on 04/15/21 after half of the original Pilgrims died in the winter of 1620-1621.
The ship itself is lost to history. Probably sold for scrap since it was not the most fit vessel to start with.

  5. Best source is Google THE MAYFLOWER and read the Wikipedia entry. Much more reliable than a guide.

    This is what I found: "In 1623, a year after the death of captain Christopher Jones, the Mayflower was most likely dismantled for scrap lumber in Rotherhithe, London.[3]"

    If that’s what happened, the lumber probably stayed in England.

  6. It isn’t. The timbers would not have been suitable. Besides the pub has been rebuilt, long after the Mayflower was scrapped.

    Claims that the Mayflower barn was constructed from timbers from the Mayflower cannot be substatiated. The barn is of the correct period and is clearly built from ships timber, so it is plausible.

    The Mayflower Barn, just outside the Quaker village of Jordans, in Buckinghamshire, England, is said to be built from these timbers.
