What a liar …
What a liar!! Sen Byrd isn’t with this shit. He’s on video pleading not to do it. Sneaky liberals.
Reconciliation was NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, intended to be used as a shield for conservational legislation

The insurance …
The insurance companies need new investors. that’s why the premiums are going up. They have to be seen as good return on investment.
Public option if the only thing that makes sense. More and more are starting to realize this.
Is anyone else …
Is anyone else wondering why insurance companies are raising rates so much just as they’re being used as pawns in this healthcare debate? If they are so against this bill, then why would they show, at this time, rates rising through the roof and play right into the hands of the ones pushing for this bill to pass? It’s almost as if they are trying to look as bad as possible at the worst possible moment. And you’re all falling for it. Wake up people. This bill is a boon for insurance companies.
So now even you …
So now even you will be able to answer this. What happens when you start to lose competitors out of the market? Do you have more competition or less? If you have less competition, do prices go up or down?
“We need a third …
“We need a third party: we need a Progressive Party! NOW”
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
We already have a progressive party. Both The Republicans and The Democrats.
You’re wrong. All …
You’re wrong. All private companies exist to make profits. If a government agency puts out a competitive product that undercuts to the point of the private not able to make a profit, they stop offering the product. Take, for example, car insurance in NJ in the 80’s. They had the assigned risk pool for new drivers. A public option for auto ins. It drove out other insurers and the costs went through the roof. It wasn’t until NJ got out of the way and opened the market that car ins prices dropped.
the house version …
the house version had a public option in it..
No, in fact, it’s …
No, in fact, it’s the only way to keep them down,
Look at the health insurance ads running right now.
The gravy train has come to a stop!
The public option …
The public option is the best way to drive up costs!
This just shows …
This just shows that you have no idea how insurance works or how competition works. You can’t have true competition if one competitor has advantages. Public companies exist to make profits. A profit is whats left after you pay for the cost, labor and delivery of an item. With no profit incentive there is no cost and labor incentives. Inefficiencies happen. If the government puts the price of a policy below what it costs for private companies to profit, then companies stop offering that product.
Who wouldn’t? …
Who wouldn’t? That’s just good clean family fun right there!
Dillon, I totally …
Dillon, I totally agree with you.
@RachelBmw3292, …
@RachelBmw3292, STFU!
@Gymjocked, it’s …
@Gymjocked, it’s medical costs also. Doctors make a fortune, even on very simple surgeries. Hospitals are run for profit and that is where most costs come from.
The government should take over the hospitals and we pay just for the cost of our care.
@Gymjocked, but why …
@Gymjocked, but why are we forced? Because they know if they let us vote on it we will reject all these forced payments.
I would not buy car insurance if I wasn’t forced. Property tax should be outlawed. We should not be taxed on our property. We can decrease the size of our government and increase our sales tax slightly and that would be enough to cover the loss in property tax.
There are a long list of things we could do to cut costs.
@jlui1200, I love …
@jlui1200, I love government run anything, as long as I am not forced to pay.
Get rid of that part and everyone will love it.
It might pass.
It …
It might pass.
It might fail.
But the Public Option should be voted on as MOST OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANTS IT and it’s the best way to bring down costs.
A nice test for …
A nice test for Obama, Polosi, et al. They obviously don’t want real reform, and they certainly don’t want a public option — they’ve been in the convenient position all along to just say it’s the Republicans’ fault. Well, here it is, black and white, they’re all on record. If you’re willing to go to reconciliation, then take the public option along with you. There is no reason not to. They’re all on record saying they’re for it. If they don’t do it, then everyone’s true colors will boldly show.
jobless rate still …
jobless rate still up there, but lets spend 2 trillion on healthcare who needs jobs, print more money and keep blaming GW, that one thing Oramit Up your is good at
im not a …
im not a progressive, or a liberal but i can tell from my seat in the middle that the public option its a great idea, it should be included
And yes, it will be …
And yes, it will be government-run. But is that inherently a bad thing? Have you ever sent a parcel through the government-run postal service? Or driven to a government-run intersection with a government-run stop sign? Do you appreciate the security provided to your community by government-run police and government-run firefighters?
The difference with …
The difference with the Public Option is that instead of being run by for-profit health insurance mega-corporations that take your premium$ and pay their CEOs millions, this insurance company will be non-profit, with lower premiums than the current health insurance companies. They will put competitive pressure on the health insurance monopoly to lower premiums. Competition is a good thing, isn’t it?
@1Guitarslayer: the …
@1Guitarslayer: the idea with the Public Option is that PEOPLE will PAY for their own health insurance, not the government, or other tax payers. So your snarky comment here goes right out the window.
