Many states allow for school facilities to be rented out when they are not in use.
The First Amendment prohibits the school district from refusing to rent to a religious group simply because they are a religious group.

I live in Ohio. Our congregation is new. We currently rent an unused public school. The decision to rent was a business decision made by a Board of Education evenly split between Republicans and Democrats, and endorsed by the Mayor (Democrat) and the City Council (majority Republican).
The constitutional prohibition on "establishment of religion" was intended to prevent any government at any level from making one religion the "official religion." It does not prevent sensible business transactions between religious groups and government organizations.
