Betty’s Restaurant-Style Cheddar Cheese Biscuits Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make quick and easy Restaurant-Style Cheddar Cheese Biscuits. These are flaky and full of cheddar flavor, with a buttery, salted top–just like in one of your favorite restaurants!

Ingredients:

2 cups biscuit and baking mix (I used Heart Healthy Bisquick.)
2/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup water

Combine 2 cups biscuit mix, 2/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, and 1/2 cup water. Blend with a fork until it forms a dough. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead about 8 times. Roll the dough to 1/2-inch thick. Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on a jellly roll pan or other baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil. Bake at 450 degrees about 8 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve while hot! They will not need butter, because the cheese will melt and permeate the entire biscuit, giving it the flavor and texture it needs! Yum!!!

Thanks Betty as always well done. I’m going to try the tip with the bay seasoning and no cutter. Here’s a tip if you do use a cutter, make sure you don’t twist it to cut because this seals the sides and it won’t rise as much just push straight down.

  4. In order to make …
In order to make the “Red Lobster” style biscuits, start out the same but don’t roll the dough. Rolling the dough will provide a more dense biscuit versus just scooping and placing in heaps on the backing sheet. Then when out of the oven, brush with a mixture of melted butter, garlic powder, and old bay seasoning.

    Hi! The baking mix …
Hi! The baking mix has more than just flower. What you need to do is go to Betty’s Traditional Kentucky Country Ham Biscuits and follow the instructions for making biscuits. The only change you need to make is to add shredded Cheddar cheese to your mixture before you knead it and roll the dough. These will be even better!

  18. Just in case you …
Just in case you have any other single viewers, like me– you can make this recipe using a box of the “Jiffy” buttermilk biscuit mix (very inexpensive, and not a big box) and just divide Betty’s recipe in 1/2 (there’s 1 cup in the little box). Comes out great!
