a wee little Brawl at Varsity Lakes Tavern, 2010 State of Origin #1 night

(iPhone Video – for some bizarre reason, phone insisted on shooting video sideways)…

Varsity Lakes Tavern, 2010 State of Origin Night #1 saw the usual crowds at the local pubs and the Casino.

Interesting how this fight between two drunk douchebags has been allowed to progress, loads of swearing, glass being broken, not a serious situation, but I would have expected a security guard to rock up and break it up and eject them from the tavern area, but no intervention from any staff or security.

Interesting how ALH group, the owners of this and many other taverns can jack up the price of my favourite lunchtime steak (a really good steak though), but on busy state of origin night wouldn’t have the decency, in there interest of patron safety, perhaps put on an extra security staff member or two, since there’s always extra people out on the when a major footy game is on.

To quote Derryn Hinch: Shame Varsity Tavern, Shame, Shame, Shame.

Try making a dick of yourself at the Casino and watch how quickly they turf you out of there.

The QLD Government is talking about early lockouts and closures of clubs and pubs, interfering more with people’s rights to enjoy a social drink and a night life with all their stupid laws and such when in reality it’s a MINORITY who cause problems. Drinks are expensive, these pubs make good profits from drinks and poker machines, perhaps for once in a while instead of controlling and regulating how we live and what we can and cannot do, here’s an idea, how about requiring licensed venues to have a minimum level of security, and make it a legal requirement for them to have ready access to stand-by security personnel for busy nights, major sporting events like state of origin and grand finals that always bring extra people numbers into pubs and clubs.
